I shell tell you

Spring....Spring Deco oh what to do....
I went to the Christmas Tree Shop yesterday to kill time before it was time to pick up my son. It is always a joy walking in there...you just don't know what you are getting or what you will experience. I enjoy the variety of people that go there and while I was grabbing some shells I got into a conversation with a lady that had a Chihuahua with her in a baby Bjorn. Yes it was awfully cute and then she started telling me about all the pups she had to leave at home as she rolled out her little photo album and I got to see the whole family of doggies. Anyhow...She had quite a collection of furry friends and was so proud of each and every one of them as I got to hear their names and personalities. So if you think I am a crazy doggy Mom think again!

Here is what I grabbed:

When I saw the Nautical looking bowl/vase I knew that was a piece that I really had to have. The robe handle called for some shells, sand or whatever. I quickly grabbed the last one on the shelf and found some shells. They are actually the real deal, but not the starfish and the  sandollars. I also found battery operated candles with a timer and 2 sassy lady friends that I took a liking to immediately as I saw them....It's almost like they were calling my name

So here is what I did:
I filled the bottom with sand that I had at home, stuck the candle in the middle and filled it with shells. Easy Peasy.

I already had the wooden candle holders. I got them at Target a while ago. The balls with the rope too
I thought it would just be splendid to create a little theme for my Dining Room table....Who says the centerpieces have to be 360....

Here are the two sassy sisters Dream and Relax...I just lov'em

I played with this a little bit and moved it around as I always do...that's part of the fun

And when it started getting dark out  I had to snap a photo...Love the look

Enjoy your weekend!

It's Snowing!

Yes, once again changes inside the fireplace. If I would have ever known how much fun It would have been to arrange and re-arrange inside it I would have made the change so many years ago!

I got inspired by one of my favorite Icelandic blogger Skreytum Hus where she teaches us how to decoupage a candle. I picked a photo from Google Images and printed it out on regular printing paper. I trimmed it according to the size of the candle and basically glued it on with Martha Stewart Decoupage in matte finish. Once on the candle I did one coat on the outside. As I went over the print the color bled a little bit but I actually love the look...Streaky but even

I messed up the top of this candle when I was trying to get all the wrinkles out so I glued a metallic ribbon to cover up my mistakes.

I didn't have any fake snow on hand so I took Saran Wrap and crumbled it up and cut down in little pieces. I also put a little bit of Glamour Touch in there for some sparkly effect

Do you see the sled in there? Well I got it at the Salvation Army last Summer. It stayed in the garage in the "future project" pile for some time

Here is a picture of the sled before I attacked it with the silver spray

So here is the total look of the whole thing at least for now. As I look at the photos I see one thing that I need to spray silver...What is it? Take a guess

Enjoy your day!

A little craft project

My blog friend Kikka inspired this little craft project.  I was reading her BLOG where she gives a decorative crown a make-over!
She sprayed it white and added pearls to it

It's the cutest little thing that she personalized...I love it!
At the last visit to The Salvation Army I had picked up few books that I spray painted white and grey. I wasn't sure what I was going to to with it so I thought...hey I can add some pearls to it and ribbon. I have so many spools of ribbon and lace that I mean to do something with...I usually get them for few cents in the discount section of Michaels

When I scrapbook I never toss away the leftover paper. I will use all of it. I either use them for punches or some scrap for cards. I got all my scrap paper out, plugged in the glue gun and starting decorating those books. Here is the outcome

The little metal frame I already had so I printed out a photo from the Graphics Fairy and stuck in there. This was such a fun project

Once I was done with the books I started working on a blank canvas...ripping more notepaper, pretty pictures from magazines, Music note pamphlets and some lettering

Next were the candles....Once I start I can't stop I know!
I picked these up from Ikea and they smell so nice. I simply ripped out a picture and tied it with a bakers thread for a little oomphh

That graphic paper is from The Graphics Fairy. I just printed it out, crimpled it and darkened the edges with a brown stamp pad

The day was rainy, the dishes were made, dinner cooking in the oven and Hubby and Son were watching the game while I sat on the floor in my craft room glue-ing away...
I love those kind of days!
I encourage you to check out Kikka's Blog: Blundur og Blom
The page is such a feast for the eye, she is her own stylist and sure is a natural.
 Her photos will capture you!

Min Josefin Vs. Min Una

Ever since I saw the candle lanterns from "Min Josefin" I have wanted to own a pair...after all they are adorable. The problem is that it was hard to get my hands on them...the internet is great but if they ship to US it get's costly. I called up my friend Una who is a crocheting specialist and told her to get busy and make me some lanterns...
Below is a sneak peak of Josefine's lantern line

The outcome was amazing...
I love them! Una crocheted around glass jars of baby food which is a great way to re-use and recycle. I have noticed that the glass jars are much thicker so they do not get as hot when you put a tea light in it

What do you guys think?
Thanks to my Dear Friend Una for responding so quickly to my call...we agreed on a nice exchange of products so we are both happy!
