Progress Report

A little update on the floor situation. I am meeting with the floor guy tomorrow morning to pick out the wood. I brought some samples down to Charlestown and asked my Family for an opinion

Here is what I decided...

I told you the floors were disgusting. I am a little embarrassed about the condition but hey...that's why I am getting new ones!

If there is one thing that I hate about the American culture it's the shoe thingy...Nobody bothers to take their shoes off once they enter. In my house we all take our shoes off...that's the Icelandic way and I like it!

The darker wood will go very nicely with all the white trim and pale walls. It also looks great with the stainless steel appliances 

Here are my color choices for the walls. I plan on painting everything the same color except....one accent wall in the master bedroom. The blue color from Behr is called Liberty and I like it so much better in person than on a photo

The Master bedroom is actually pretty large and oblong

Tutta La Famiglia gathered in the new city pad toasting and celebrating Father's Day!

We all walked over to the North End for a nice italian dinner after...on the way there I couldn't resist taking a picture of the Monument

Hardwood Floor Colors

Hey there....right now I am thinking about the hardwood floor color choices for our city pad. There are so many choices. 

At this point my thinking is something darker... sort of like this

What do you guys think?

 Is it too dark? I wonder about things like dirt and dust...

Is it hard to keep clean?

I compared some samples to the coffee table to see what looked good

Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions? As you can see the current floor in the kitchen and foyer is very beaten up and dingy looking. 

The rest of the apartment has a very light carpet which is going as soon as the floor guy can start working. As you can see it's in very bad condition. Looks like there has been a lot of spills through the years

Hardwood Floors

Ever since we moved into our house 12 years ago we have dreamed of having hardwood floors in the bedroom. Hubby suffers from all kinds of allergies and both of us usually wake up all stuffed up even though we have humidifiers. So today is the long awaited day...we are doing it! Well not US but my guys from United Homeworks.
This weekend a little madness had to occur so we could accomplish emptying out our bedroom and 2 walk in closets. The bedroom extends out to a whole new room which is kind of cool, I think it's meant for nursery, or exercising. We use it as a lounge where we work out. Of course we had to get that room done as well.
The office downstairs got to go along on this trip. Makes only sense to have that done too to get a good flow.
I was so exhausted last night...feet up and a glass of wine! Before that occurred I snapped a few photos

 This is the upper hallway. I have a really cool idea for that staircase- it desperately needs a makeover!

 Pinkish walls.....Gotta go!

I can't wait to post more photos...They promised me it would be all done before Thanksgiving...
