Silver

I have never been much of the silver "type" but lately it has started to appeal to me. I love mixing opposites, rustic versus elegant. I found this Antique solid silver water pitcher at Goodwill on my weekly pop in's there. I paid $5.99 for it. After I polished it I saw the serial number underneath I looked it up and saw that it was actually worth $50
I think it looks lovely!

On the same trip I found these little bowls. They are silver coated and nice enough for me. When they are stacked they resemble a lotus flower

Busy days ahead in the yard...a little too early to start planting flowers but very soon.
All my patio furniture is out of the basement and the weather is really nice...Looking forward to those warm days ahead!
Enjoy your day

When I went to Iceland at Easter I was determent to buy a house...
Not a big one...just this perfect size zinc beauty.
I ventured to Reykjavik with an old girlfriend where we had lunch and then we walked up and down Laugarvegur in the rain. There were so many shops that pulled us in, I didn't buy much but enjoyed just looking and seeing what was new. At the top of Laugarvegur is my favorite store
Puko og Smart. The store is awesome and filled with all kinds of trinkets. That's where I found my house and I was pleasantly surprised with the price but I paid only $35 for it. So with that said I am craving more houses to add to my collection...It would be awesome to own one larger one

Since I was snapping in the first place I just kept on going so the following photos are just some extra that I am showing today of my apartment in Iceland!

Just a few little things that make me happy

Salvation Army Finds

I am sharing with you today my finds at the local Salvation Army. It's always interesting to go into those stores, sometimes there is nothing but other times you find something that catches your eye like these candle holders... (like I don't have enough candle holders....Ahem) There were 2 of them on the shelf, dirty and dingy so they got to go home with me.
These babies were meant to get a second chance!

Some silver polish, TLC and voila...Here they are both standing side by side- One got the deluxe spa treatment while the other waited patiently for it's turn

In the end they were both sparkly and shiny so I matched them up with my 2 other silver candle holders (wedding gift) and placed them on this rustic tray because I love the contrast of old and new...A crocheted doily and some dried rose pedals and they look fabulous!

How about you? Tell me about your findings, I am always interested!
Happy Friday

Min Josefin Vs. Min Una

Ever since I saw the candle lanterns from "Min Josefin" I have wanted to own a pair...after all they are adorable. The problem is that it was hard to get my hands on them...the internet is great but if they ship to US it get's costly. I called up my friend Una who is a crocheting specialist and told her to get busy and make me some lanterns...
Below is a sneak peak of Josefine's lantern line

The outcome was amazing...
I love them! Una crocheted around glass jars of baby food which is a great way to re-use and recycle. I have noticed that the glass jars are much thicker so they do not get as hot when you put a tea light in it

What do you guys think?
Thanks to my Dear Friend Una for responding so quickly to my call...we agreed on a nice exchange of products so we are both happy!

"Tweeners" Bedroom Therapy

I got this little Niece in Iceland who just turned 11.
She is the sweetest thing and I love her oh so much!
I was asked to decorate her room since she just moved with her Mom to a new apartment. I don't have any before pictures unfortunately but just imagine a lot of pink!
Needless to say she was all done with the pink and wanted something more "grown up"
The room is narrow so it was sort of hard to work with but in the end I am pretty happy with the outcome... I managed to re-use a lot of her old things with the help of the white spray brush... In the end she told me that "SHE LOVED IT" that's the best compliment right...

She has a bed that is wider than normal (for sleepovers) A little desk, a wicker chair a dresser and a nightstand....her built in closet is BIG so we didn't have to worry about her clothes.
First thing's first...I got these lovely curtains at the clearance rack at Bed Bath And
 Beyond...$ 5.99 -No brainer...

She had this Betty Boo doll that kind of set the mood...New bedspread from IKEA and a couple of new pillowcases were enough to fancy up the bed
Adding these pictures above the bed was essential...No more posters....
(posters and frame both from Ikea)

Here are few of my Nieces Trophies. She is extremely athletic and is a great runner
Unfortunately I wasn't able to get all of her achievements up on the wall due to lack of time but she has a whole bag of them. Her mom is currently working on finding a nice display for them

The spray paint was used on this cork memory board among other things...

The butterflies are lovely...I gave her those for Christmas one year.

She made this hanger on her own for her sunglasses

Every "Tweener" needs a space for her lotions and potions

All those little details....Make a huge difference
Here is the room again as seen from the doorway

Cute isn't it?

Everybody was happy!
Enjoy your Day
